Song of the day (July 26)

After recuperating from an awesome concert experience, I've downloaded some more music to the iPod. So today's song is "Dog days are over" by Florence and the Machine.

Song of the day (July 21)

And the countdown continues until Friday when I get to see Paramore in concert...again. Today's song of the day is the song that basically made me love them. It's from their first studio album, All We Know Is Falling.

Song of the day (July 18)

In honor of the Honda Civic Tour starting up this Friday in Raleigh, I've decided to dedicate this week to it. Each song of the day will be a band on the tour or of course the band I can never hate Paramore. So today's song is "Misery Business", also known as the song that made them everyone in the world jump on the Paramore train. Fricken followers.

Nice Collaboration Converse

Converse has a knack for recruiting amazing musicians to help promote during the summer. This year they've tapped Kid Cudi, Rostam (Vampire Weekend guitarist and producer) and Best Coast to record the song "All Summer". Below is a tidbit from Spin.com about the collaboration.

The track pairs Cudi's laid back flow with a sweet-sounding but melancholy hook from Best Coast's Bethany Cosentino, and it's all held together by Rostam's production, which borrows a bit from Vampire Weekend and a bit from LP, the 2009 album he recorded with Ra Ra Riot's Wes Miles under the Discovery moniker.

"When you throw three creative people together it can be tough and nerve-racking to get the artistic gears going," said Kid Cudi. "But we ended up vibing really well and I was totally pleased with the end result."

The song is part of Converse's Three Artists, One Song series, where three acts come together in the studio to write and record a new song. The first installment emerged in 2008 when Pharrell Williams of N.E.R.D., Santigold, and Julian Casablancas collaborated on the track "My Drive Thru."

Stream the tune here, watch some footage of the trio in the studio, and tell us what you think in the comments section. You can download it for free via Converse's website.

The Killers frontman releases first single "Crossfire"

Since the beginning of The Killer's Brandon Flower's has been the tortured artist who's ability to write incredible music lyrics has been a niche of his. His solo album, Flamingo is set for release Sept. 14. The first single off of the album is "Crossfire". The song starts out sounding vaguely like a Killer's song, but in the end the realization that it's just Brandon is evident. For the music video he recruited the gorgeous Charlize Theron to be the female lead. Theron graciously saves Flower's from a group of ninjas throughout the video.

I found out recently that the lead singer of Inucbus Brandon Boyd was working on a solo album. And it's being released soon. So the song of the day is "A Night Without Cars" by none other than Brandon Boyd. :)

Song of the day (July 2)

The song of the day is "Staplegunned" by The Spill Canvas. I know this song has been mentioned on the blog before. But, I've had this song in my head for a while thanks to this guy who I can't seem to get out of my head.
